A 25-year-old Los Angeles after-school program employee has been arrested on suspicion of creating artificial intelligence-generated child pornography, with authorities warning there may be more victims in the case.
Julian Kurt Perez was taken into custody on Monday by the Los Angeles Police Department's Juvenile Division and Internet Crimes Against Children Unit.
According to law enforcement, Perez worked at schools and after-school programs throughout the San Fernando Valley.
Investigators said Perez created AI-generated child sexual abuse material involving at least two identified minor victims.
He was booked on one count of possession of child or youth pornography.
According to police, Perez is believed to target minor-aged female victims. Authorities have released a photo of the suspect in hopes of encouraging additional potential victims to come forward.
"Detectives and special agents are seeking the public's assistance with information about this crime," the LAPD said, according to KTLA.
The investigation is being conducted jointly by the LAPD Juvenile Division and Internet Crimes Against Children Unit, with assistance from Homeland Security Investigations' Child Exploitation Investigations Group.
Perez is described as a Hispanic male standing 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing 170 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
Law enforcement officials emphasized they believe there may be additional unreported victims in the case.
