Key takeaways
Levi Strauss & Co. announced on November 17, 2025, a partnership with Microsoft to develop an integrated agentic AI orchestration platform built around a single superagent designed to automate and streamline workflows across the organization.
The Azure-powered platform, embedded within Microsoft Teams, will integrate multiple AI-driven sub-agents deployed across IT, human resources, operations, and other functions.
The system will serve as an intelligent intermediary, centralizing employee questions, system lookups, and operational tasks into one conversational interface.
The superagent is currently in development and testing, with rollout to corporate employees scheduled for early 2026. Expansion to global offices will follow throughout the year.
Company leadership outlines AI strategy
Michelle Gass, President and CEO of Levi Strauss & Co., emphasized the strategic importance of the initiative in a press release from Business Wire: "AI represents a tremendous opportunity for us and is a key unlock as we rewire how we work — from our stores to our corporate offices.
As we roll out these tools in 2026, our teams will gain faster access to information and insights that help them work more efficiently and ultimately serve our fans better across every channel, every day.
The new capabilities we are developing, along with the partnerships we've established, will accelerate our journey to become a $10 billion retailer and set new benchmarks for best-in-class agility, operational excellence, and innovation in global retail."
Jason Gowans, Chief Digital and Technology Officer at Levi Strauss & Co., described the broader transformation in a statement from Microsoft's press release: "We're rewiring Levi Strauss & Co. to be a DTC-first, fan-obsessed retailer making every interaction faster, smarter, and more personal.
AI sits at the center of that pivot — fueling innovation, elevating employee creativity, unlocking productivity, and helping us deliver the connected, memorable experiences that keep our fans returning again and again."
Gowans also pointed to the company's financial operations as an example of AI-driven process improvement.
In comments reported by Women's Wear Daily, he explained that the company operates in more than 100 countries across more than 50,000 different points of distribution, with many orders from wholesale partners still processed manually.
The company has used AI to decompose its 1,100 standard operating procedures in financial operations into 19,000 different processes to identify automation opportunities.
Microsoft executives highlight retail innovation
Nick Parker, Microsoft's Chief Business Officer and President of Worldwide Sales and Solutions, commented on the partnership in the official press release: "Expanding the impact of AI to different roles and building custom agentic solutions are core to being a frontier firm.
We're proud to work with Levi's as they integrate AI across their business in ways that elevate both the consumer and employee experience. Their commitment to purposeful innovation is redefining retail excellence."
Keith Mercier, Vice President of Worldwide Retail and Consumer Goods Industry at Microsoft, added in the Microsoft announcement: "Levi Strauss & Co. exemplifies how iconic brands can reinvent themselves with cloud and AI technologies. From unlocking scale to enabling creativity and innovation, we're proud of how we're partnering with Levi's to weave AI into every experience for employees and fans."
Alongside the superagent platform, Levi Strauss & Co. has introduced additional AI-powered tools targeting both customers and employees.
The company launched Outfitting, a personalized styling feature on its mobile app that uses inventory data, aggregated purchase history, browsing behavior, and product imagery to deliver customized recommendations through a "Complete the Look" section when shoppers select products.
The company is also rolling out STITCH, an AI-powered mobile app for store associates, to 60 U.S. locations following a pilot program.
The tool provides store employees with instant access to product information, brand knowledge, how-to guides, and training content.
Michael Buchanan, who spent nearly two decades working in Levi's stores before joining the company's data and analytics team, developed the STITCH concept during an internal hackathon.
In a statement reported by Women's Wear Daily, Buchanan explained the motivation: "If we're approached with a question, we never want to say, 'I don't know.' It's this mindset which sparked the idea that we needed a new solution, not only to help our consumers but also to strengthen our teams."
Technology infrastructure and security measures
The partnership extends beyond the superagent platform. Levi Strauss & Co. is migrating application workloads from on-premises data centers to Microsoft Azure and using Azure Migrate and GitHub Copilot to plan and execute the transition.
The company is also leveraging Azure AI Foundry and Semantic Kernel to build intelligent automation capabilities.
The company said it is deploying Microsoft Intune for zero-touch device onboarding and application deployment, and adopting Microsoft Surface Copilot+ PCs running Windows 11 for employees.
According to the company, employees report the devices have led to significant improvements in speed, reliability, and data handling.
The platform is being developed with standard data security and privacy practices and ongoing investment in responsible AI oversight, maintaining a zero-trust security model while scaling AI-driven innovation across global operations.
