Key takeaways
The integration represents a significant expansion of Google Photos beyond smartphones and computers, addressing a gap in the TV viewing experience.
Exclusive features rolling out throughout 2026
The Google Photos integration will debut in stages throughout 2026, beginning with the Memories feature in March.
This feature will organize photos and videos into curated stories based on people, locations, and meaningful moments.
Samsung confirmed that Memories will be available first and exclusively on Samsung TVs for a six-month period before potentially expanding to other TV platforms.
"Samsung TVs have always brought people together, and bringing Google Photos to the big screen makes that experience even more personal," said Kevin Lee, Executive Vice President of the Customer Experience Team at the Visual Display Business of Samsung Electronics, according to the company's official press release.
"Through this partnership, we help users rediscover and relive cherished moments by bringing to light the stories behind their photos — right from the comfort of their living room."
Later in 2026, Samsung plans to introduce two additional features.
The Create with AI feature will utilize Google DeepMind's Nano Banana image generation and editing model, offering themed templates and tools like Remix for transforming art styles and Photo to Video for converting still images into short video clips.
The Personalized Results feature will enable users to view topic-based photo slideshows organized around themes such as specific locations or activities.
Integration with Samsung's Vision AI Companion
Google Photos will be integrated into Samsung's Vision AI Companion (VAC) ecosystem, allowing photos to surface naturally through features like Daily+ and Daily Board.
The setup process is designed to be straightforward, requiring users to sign in with their Google Account to access their backed-up photos and videos directly on the television screen.
Shimrit Ben-Yair, Vice President of Google Photos and Google One, stated in the announcement: "Google Photos is a home for people's photos and videos, helping them organize and bring their memories to life.
We're excited to bring Google Photos to Samsung TVs—helping people enjoy their favorite photos on a larger screen and reconnect with their memories in new ways."
Availability and technical requirements
The Google Photos integration will first be available on Samsung TV models launching in 2026.
The company has indicated that select older TV models will receive the feature through Tizen OS software updates later in the year, though specific rollout timelines for in-market models have not been disclosed.
Users will need to ensure the Memories feature is not disabled in their Google Photos settings to access curated photo collections.
Feature availability will vary by TV model and region, according to Samsung. Select creative AI templates developed for the Create with AI feature will be available exclusively on Samsung TVs.
